I’ve been thinking about victory, and the definition is:
–noun, plural -ries.
1. a success or triumph over an enemy in battle or war.
2. an engagement ending in such triumph: American victories in the Pacific were won at great cost.
3. the ultimate and decisive superiority in any battle or contest: The new vaccine effected a victory over poliomyelitis.
Victory is winning a battle – and a battle is:
–noun
1. a hostile encounter or engagement between opposing military forces: the battle of Waterloo.
2. participation in such hostile encounters or engagements: wounds received in battle.
As I’ve been thinking about this, I’ve come to one outstanding thought: If victory is winning a battle, and battle is a hostile encounter, than victory won’t come when we are passive. We must aggressively swarm the battlefield – and we must wear our armor and bring our weapons. Victory isn’t going to come while we “sleep it off”. Now, if there is something in your life the Lord is guiding you to wait on, be patient and wait on Him! But if the Lord is calling you to battle, equip yourself my friend, and fight!
This currently applies to the battle with depression that I’ve fought in my own life. It usually sneaks up on me as the need for more rest. I usually think nothing of it, as I stay pretty busy, so I spend a day or two getting extra rest, then soon I want to sleep all the time. By the time I’ve realized that this isn’t just a need for some extra rest, I’ve let a couple weeks pass me by. As I realized that victory comes as a result of a battle, I realized I MUST battle. I must fight back – I cannot wait to “sleep if off” – that is giving the enemy the victory he’s fighting for. I must seek Christ, and the victory He offers me.
I think this applies to raising children, managing a home, having integrity in the workplace, maintaining friendships, and building lasting relationships. Taking on these battles and claiming victory means we will work harder, more often, for longer hours, but it will be worth it. We will be honoring God as we seek His vision for victory in our lives, we will be growing more like Christ as we accept the call to fight such battles, and we have the opportunity to learn to rely on God for our protection, strength, provision, and victory.

Hello Sister, reading your post reminds me of me. Your battles are mine also and mine dont stop at mild depression. You likely are aware of these principles so maybe my thoughts of you will be at least encouragement. I have searched for answers in the Lord and will share them with you.
The last thing Jesus said on the cross was “it is finished” The fact is Jesus has won the war for us on the cross. That is the battle with depression, addiction and all our sin and human ways which are against God. The enemy uses our emotions to create doubt that the battle is not already won. Jesus on the cross has eliminated the enemy. Thus he has no authority in us any longer. But we through our lack of undersatnding give him authority through gauging Gods work in us through our emotions.
The Lord call us Peculiar people in Deu 14:2, Peculiar is defined as 1) possession, property 1a) valued property, peculiar treasure 1b) treasure. The word is translated from a Greek word which is made up of two words, one which means “around,” as a circle, and the other which means “to be.” Imagine a circle with a dot in the center. The Lord is the circle, you are the dot. Because we are his treasure through the blood of Christ, the Lord encircles us. Nothing will get to us or through the circle (God) that He does not allow. He allows all that comes to us but will not allow that which we cannot handle. Why?
The Lord is constantly trying us for our attention. 2 Corinthians 2:1 a But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ. It is this leading that allows that which we experience, why? In order that you (all of us) look unto the Lord as your comfort and supply. It is the devils order to rob kill and destroy those who are the Lord’s. Our choice is to believe God or the devil, who deceives us through our emotions. 2Co 5:7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.
It took some time for me to understand the spirit man vs the flesh man. The bible says in Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Our battle needs to take place in the spiritual realm. What is the spiritual and how do I use it to fight?
Joh 6:63 It is the spirit that gives life; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. The words in the bible are our weapons. The enemy is a liar, RIGHT!
2Co 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
My error has been to seek outside of me and ask God to remove those things that trouble me. 2Co 12:7 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.
2Co 12:8 For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.
2Co 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
2Co 12:10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
Those verses need studying to understand but in a nut shell what is said is Jesus has won the battle and we must us the power of the word. Remember we wrestle against spiritual whickedness and Jesus said the words I speak are spirit and they are life. The power of God is in His words to us. When the big D come on me I get into action, not by asking God to remove it (it is finished) but by using the power in His words. I say na devil you have no authority in me, it is written 2Co 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
The power of God is in His words to us. When we take our eyes off of our scituations and put them on the cross through the word then the victory our victory that Jesus won will begin to manifest itself by faith. Know that it is finished! Here are some power verses to look up. Write them down on idex cards and confess them out loud in the car or somewhere in private. YOU WILL BE AMAZED WITH THE RESULTS! what I do is convert words like us to me, example:Eph 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus you (I) who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
