I took the plunge and decided to write along with the WordPress.com writing prompts.
This one is: Is being “normal” — whatever that means to you — a good thing, or a bad thing? Neither?
Normal is individual to me. I think of normal in a medical sort of way – what is your normal body temperature, your normal skin condition, your normal heart rate, respiration, o2?
What is normal to me is not normal to the next guy. And their normal is not normal to me.
I guess that makes my answer neither – I don’t see normal as good or bad. I suppose if your blood pressure is normally high, it is an indicator of possible bad health (or a reaction to something like stress or medication).
I don’t see normal as a personality trait or a character code or a virtue. We are not all set out to be one way. Our differences, our diversity, are part of God’s divine plan for an infinitely creative universe. He is a master designer and He didn’t want us to all be the same.
Normal to me doesn’t equate to sameness.
I would love to hear your thoughts about normal in the comment below.
Until next time,
