Hello my friend! I’ve come today with a plea, if you will. I have an umbilical hernia. I’ve actually had this hernia for fifteen years—it developed during my first pregnancy. But it didn’t cause me any trouble back then.

Five years ago, during my final pregnancy, it really started causing trouble. I was in and out of the emergency room, and they couldn’t repair it while I was pregnant.

After the baby was born, I wanted a tubal ligation and the OB/GYN could get me in before the general surgeon for the hernia. But I had complications from my tubal that meant putting off the hernia repair.

Then we lost our insurance. And I haven’t had coverage since. We literally cannot afford to add me to the insurance offered through my husband’s employer.

It seemed fine though, the more time passed after the pregnancy, the less trouble the hernia gave me. Until yesterday (July 17, 2021) that is. I took my sweet kiddos camping and when we were setting up the tent, the hernia pushed through the hole in my abdominal wall, got rock hard, and stuck there.

I instantly started sweating profusely, shaking, and got nauseous. But it was getting late, and dark, and I was the only grown up on this camping trip. So I let everyone nestle into their sleeping bags, and I laid on top of mine, icing the hernia off and on until I couldn’t take the pain anymore. It took all my strength to stand up, and I was desperate to get the kids awake.

I couldn’t bend over, so my oldest daughter (who is only 8) helped gather the few valuables we had along, got them in the truck, got her siblings in the truck, and we drove the mile or two over to the emergency room.

It seems that not getting it repaired all these years has allowed the problem to grow and what was once a small hernia, is now quite large.

I’m getting to the point, please bear with me.

I need surgery. My original quotes exceeded $10,000. But, I found a hospital that will do it for $3,200. That includes anesthesia, the surgeon’s fee, and the hospital fee. I need to get this scheduled before I have an emergency where the hernia is stuck protruding out.

I bet you’re wondering why I’ve told you all of this, aren’t you? And what my plea is, too?

My plea is, will you please buy one of my books? Pretty straightforward. All five are available on Amazon as an ebook or paperback, and they are in Kindle Unlimited.

But I have a special offer for you. If signed paperbacks are your thing, I will be collecting orders, then ordering a shipment of books, and I will sign them/personalize them how you want and mail them to you.

I need to sell 1000 copies of my books to have the money to have this surgery. Until I have this surgery, I’m wearing an abdominal binder with a hernia support disk. (Uncomfortable.) My goal is to have sold 1000 copies by August 20th, 2021.

I’m not just turning to the internet for help, I’m also going to take my books around locally and try to get them in some local stores. I haven’t focused on the paperbacks before, but I’m excited to get them into the hands of people.

I will update the number at the top as books sell—probably once a day or once every other day. That way you can see the progress we are making.

In the meantime, I’m still writing and editing. I have a book that will be out the first part of August and a book that will be out the last part of August, and then a book in November and a book in December. Writing is what I’m supposed to do. And it makes my life better.

Without further ado…

If you want to order straight from Amazon, you can go here: https://www.amazon.com/Regina-Walker/e/B087GBZSNS and see all five of my titles, and order directly through Amazon.

If you want to order a signed paperback copy from me, you can go here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd_0xzc5XvPnhImxpYoKW8Hwgoh_yFFhoaOd914RW-uWEfZrw/viewform and I will send you an invoice with your total after you submit this order request. This first round of paperback orders will close on July 31st at 12:00 am central. (Please keep in mind, it takes the printer roughly three weeks to send me copies. So it will be about around 4-5 weeks for you to receive your signed paperback copies.)

Thank you for reading this far. I didn’t want to start something just asking for a handout, so I thought I would just try to sell enough books to cover this surgery. I can’t wait to update you on how the surgery went and how much better I’ll be feeling!
