Saved by an Accident

About

Bear’s family didn’t want to go to the trouble of gelding him, so when he got aggressive as a stud, they sold him at auction. An aggressive coming four-year-old stud doesn’t have many prospects in this world, so a kill buyer bought him. During transport to slaughter, a terrible accident occurred taking the lives of several horses on board. Although Bear survived, they put him in a pen on the back of the property and neglected to care for him and the other survivors.

Debra dedicated her entire life to working hard and raising her daughter, Nicole. Being a retired empty-nester wasn’t so bad because she spent time with Nicole often. But when Nicole moves away with her husband, Debra is lonely and lost. When the sweet couple at the old feed store recommended that she start volunteering with the horses at Gabriel’s Rescue, she decided she had nothing to lose by trying it out. In her first week at Gabriel’s Rescue, she helps prepare the quarantine barn for seventeen horses that survived a horrific accident on their way to slaughter.

Praise for this book

What a beautifully written emotional book! I loved everything about this book. It is full of family drama and horses. Once I started reading this book I couldn't put it down. It will make you laugh, cry and feel every emotion in between. This book shows how cruel horses are treated at the kill pens and the pain and suffering they go through. Thank God for all the horse rescues that step in and try to save these poor innocent horses. Thank you Regina Walker for drawing attention to this horrible problem.

As an avid animal lover, this was a true page turner for me. The way the author gave Binger’s perspective put life to this amazing book. The relationship of love and trust that developed between he and Debra was heartwarming and beautiful! I love how Debra, an older retired lady, stands her ground with “finding herself” regarding her relationship with Nicole (her daughter) and allows Nicole to find her own way. The loving and yet compromising relationship that she has with Milton, her husband is a tru example of a great marriage. There is so much more to this beautifully written story that I will leave for you to read with no spoilers! The heart of this author is amazing and truly comes through in this wonderful read.
